The Josie is the sister boot to Stella. a slightly rounded toe and a bit shorter in the leg. The softer leather gives its comfy feel. This comes in a wide size, black-smooth leather. Styling is a bit more feminine with softer curves, lace-up and a 1-1/4″ stacked heel, all leather sole.
The Congressgaitor is more of an ankle boot. It is what you have been looking for. With a tab on the back for ease of entry, it has a smooth black leather toe, two elastic gussets one either side and a stacked heel.
Fugawee’s Hessian boot is another well made long lasting leather boot, Steel shank construction. Stacked leather heel, fully lined. The boots do not come with a tassel, These have a narrow shaft so those with large calves they might not work for you.

If you look at the American Rifleman article on muskets of the Revolution, you will see that Troiani portraysGeneral Warren standing atop the parapet with sword in hand as he waits to see “the whites of their eyes.” He is wearing black Hi-Lows / Black Half Boots.
Artillery boot 1861, or sometimes called the Short Boot or Engineer Boot. The mid-calf height of the boot changes in proportion to the size. The boot is leather lined. The original is on the right in the image.
1758 Ligonier is a straight last shoe. Military or Civilian use. It is an all leather, low heel, short tongue and fit for either a buckle or you can set for ties.
Available in rough out or smooth finish. Short tongue, round toe, (square toes disappeared in 1735) 1¼ inch latchets. .
